Faces Unknown ‘23

With her serie “Faces Unknown” Debby van Adrichem searches for the tension between the human and the abstract.

To come to the abstraction of the faces she starts with observing existing faces and decompose them until pure humanity remains, regardless of gender, origin and cultural shaped appearances. She keeps her work open for your own interpretation, the feelings you get from a face and the stories that are evoked in your head.

In her new serie of “Faces Unknown” she plays with the transformative impact of light and shadows on her artworks, which is a reference to the ongoing transformation of every human being.”
